So... I bought a bag of Kit Kats and I can't stop thinking about them.
In a previous post I disclosed my candy problem and how I am trying not to treat myself every single day. This has been going pretty well. Today, while running errands, my sister and I decided to fill Easter eggs for a family party next week and since she has a 6-year old at her house, I got to take them home to fill. Needless to say, we bought too much and the leftover mini Kit Kats are haunting my every move. I did break down and eat 2 of them. 2 MINI KIT KATS! The old me would have eaten 20, but it is taking every ounce of will power that I barely have not to go crazy. UGH!!! Anyways... my best things today were: #1 - 4.5 mile walk with one of my besties. We haven't caught up in a while so it was nice, plus the weather was so perfect. The not so perfect part? The 1 BILLION RIVER BUGS that were swarming the Fox Lake today. They were out of control. I'm scared to even think about how many flew into my mouth. When we moved along the lake this summer, it was past the river bug time (think zillions of tiny gnats) so I am very concerned what this Spring will bring. #2 - It is 5:30 and after I write this I am done with everything on my list!!! Now I just need to decide if I want to be lazy and watch TV all night or to tackle my closet and the piles of Spring clothes that I want to go through. #3 - The countdown to Spring Break has begun. In exactly one week I will be in a much warmer Fort Worth with my sweet niece!

Saturdays... a day to be a little lazy, run errands and start prepping for the week ahead. I am off to grocery shop in a few minutes (so exciting, I know) and then a quiet evening in (since the hubby is STILL coughing and we were both wide awake last night from 1-2:30).
Best things on this sunny day... #1 - Lunch at Aunt Bev's! Aunt Bev did not get married until I was about 10 so before that she was our fun aunt, the one who would take us for sleep overs, pizza burgers at the Addison House and all kinds of treats. She is known for her yummy banana bread and brownies and always makes extra for us to take home. We spent a lot of time talking about our favorite childhood memories, all relating to food! #2 - A drive through some old memories. My parents, sister and nephew were with today and we drove by my dad's childhood neighborhood (the house is now gone) and our old house growing up. I had such a great childhood, love going back there and thinking about those days. #3 - Aunt Bev is trying to declutter so she wants all of her nieces, and one nephew, to each pick out a few cookie jars from her collections. She must have at least 50. My nephew helped me pick out an awesome one shaped like a clock (COOKIE TIME) now has a new home in my kitchen. I am not very sentimental, but I really love having something special from her. My husband has a nagging cough and is a little stuffed up. I can no longer remember missing him just a few short days ago. His snoring and coughing at night are driving us both crazy. He texts me everyday with an update about how poorly he slept (yes, I know honey, I heard you coughing ALL NIGHT LONG). We have a rule in our house (since it is just the 2 of us) that if you are sick you have to sleep in the guest room; aka the "sick bed". He has been there all week. In our last house the guest room was on the other side of the house, but we moved 6 months ago and the guest room is just a few feet away. Even with doors closed I can hear him. UGH! I am trying to be sympathetic but am just kind of irritated. He's going to be such a peach to be around this weekend, I will probably have a lot of "errands" that I need to run. My 3 best things for today will have to wait awhile... hopefully sooner than later. |
