My best thing today? Working with the 1st graders. I used to teach in primary; 18 years actually before I moved to intermediate. Now I spend my days with 3-6 and I really, really miss the little kids. While it was fun to be there today, what lead up to it was not so great.
I accidentally set my alarm for 4:00 instead of 5. I actually slept until the alarm, which is rare and did not even look at the clock as I got up and showered. Around 4:30 I walked back into the bedroom and noticed my mistake. UGH!!! I laid back down for awhile but it just wasn't the same. As someone who is not a very good sleeper, I really relish the sleep that I do get. A few minutes before classes began I got a "surprise" visit from the school secretary. This is never good. We were short a sub. Our instructional coach and I split the day, but that meant spending my planning time preparing materials for my math students to work on in their homerooms while I was off teaching 1st grade. Basically the day was non stop and my list of things to do just keeps getting longer. It doesn't help that I have 27 conferences scheduled for Thurs/Friday. Those parents of gifted kids just love to hear how their angels are doing! Tomorrow is a new day...

Oh my! That was quite a day! I guess you could look at it this way, that you didn't oversleep? Not sure if that helps. Wishing you a calmer day tomorrow.

We have had a sub shortage for years. this year the union and the district worked out a list of who gets pulled to cover, so it isn't always the same people.

While it’s wonderful to spend time in the rooms, it always comes at a cost when it’s not planned. I need several do overs as the snow days are messing up the schedule.

Always fun when the day you thought was going to happen just decides otherwise for you. I have 26 kids and only like 14 parents signed up for conferences so far!
